지금 이탈리아에선 세계질서를 주도하고 있는 주요 20개국(G20) 정상회의가 열리고 있습니다. 우리의 관심은 문재인 대통령이 추진중인 6.25전쟁 종식선언에 대한 미국의 지지를 어떻게 얻어내느냐 입니다.

문 대통령은 바이든 대통령과 현지 회의장에서 만나 이와 관련한 이야기를 나눴습니다. 그리고 문 대통령은 교황의 방북을 권유했고 프란체스코 교황은 방북의지가 있다는 뜻을 문 대통령에게 표명했습니다. 바이든 대통령은 이번주 트윗에서 다자외교 현장인 이탈리아 G20 정상회의에서 여러 지도자들을 만나 세계현안에 대해 다각적인 협의를 하고 있다는 내용을 많이 올렸습니다.

Had a productive day of meetings at the G20 today. The Global Minimum Tax we discussed today is a game changer for American workers, taxpayers, and businesses. I'm looking forward to day two.

오늘(현지시각 31일) G20 정상회의에서 생산적인 회동을 했습니다. 우리가 오늘 논의한 글로벌 최저법인세는 미국의 노동자, 납세자, 기업에겐 하나의 게임체인저 입니다. 저는 둘째날의 회의를 고대하고 있습니다.

I had a productive first day of meetings in Rome. Looking forward to the start of the G20 tomorrow. I had a great meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron this afternoon. The United States has no more decent ally than France. I met with Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi today to thank him for his leadership of the G20 during a year of overlapping global challenges. We recognized the historic achievement of a global minimum tax and the commitment to rapidly decarbonize how we produce electricity.

It was an honor to meet with Pope Francis again at the Vatican today. I thanked His Holiness for his advocacy for the world's poor and those suffering from hunger, conflict, and persecution, and lauded his leadership in fighting the climate crisis and ending the pandemic.

저는 로마에서 생산적인 첫 날을 보냈습니다. 내일 G20 정상회의를 고대하면서, 저는 오늘 오후 마크롱 프랑스 대통령과 멋진 만남을 가졌습니다. 미국은 프랑스보다 더 적절한 동맹을 갖고 있지 않습니다. 오늘 마리오 드라기 이탈리아 총리를 만나 여러가지 글로벌 도전이 중첩된 해에 G20 개최의 리더십을 발휘한 것에 대해 고맙다고 말했습니다.  빠르게 이산화탄소 배출을 줄이기위해 어떻게 우리가 전기를 생산할 것인지에 대한 다짐과 글로벌 최저법인 세금의 역사적인 성취를 공감했습니다.

프란치스코 교황과 오늘 다시 만난 것은 영광이었습니다. 저는 교황께서 세계의 가난한 사람들과 기아와 분쟁, 박해 등으로 고통받는 사람들을 옹호하는 점에 대해 감사드렸습니다. 또 코로나 대유행을 종식시키고 기후위기와 싸우는데 리더십을 발휘한 점에 대해 찬양 드렸습니다.
